From May 21 to 25, the Belgian Dressage Championships took place at the Azelhof in Lier. In the junior category, 31 combinations entered the competition. After three set tests – team test, individual test, and freestyle – Allegro and I closed the championships by winning the Belgian title.

We started on Wednesday with the team test. Allegro felt great in the arena: attentive, with the right energy, and well focused. The test went smoothly and under control. We scored 70.82%, which secured us the 1st place. That was an amazing start that immediately boosted our confidence.
Friday followed with the individual test. Allegro felt a bit tense, which prevented us from showcasing our full potential. Nonetheless, we tried to remain calm as a combination and end the round positively. We managed to do that, scoring a decent 69.62%, earning us the 5th place.
Saturday was the highlight: the freestyle to music. Only the top 17 combinations were allowed to participate. Allegro was back in his element. He moved more freely, and I truly felt great in the arena. With a score of 73.94%, we once again claimed the 1st place and secured the Belgian title in the junior category.

After three consecutive titles in the children’s category, a 4th place in my first year as a junior, and bronze last year, this title feels like a beautiful culmination of our journey. Every year you learn something new. Every year you work on details. And this year, the pieces of the puzzle fell nicely into place.
The juniors rode all weekend at the stunning grounds of the Azelhof. “It’s truly special to ride here. The Belgian Championships always have a unique atmosphere; it’s just something entirely different from an ordinary competition.”
Once again, a big thank you to:
– Kristin Vercammen, for her support and sharp coaching,
– my sponsors, supporters, and family,
– and above all Allegro, my constant companion and best friend for ten years now
See you soon!
Amber
